About artist
Sue Foley
Sue Foley is a trailblazing Canadian blues artist and a 2025 GRAMMY® nominee for Best Traditional Blues Album with her solo acoustic masterpiece, One Guitar Woman. Known for her distinctive pink Telecaster, "Pinky," Foley set aside her trademark guitar for this groundbreaking album, instead using a nylon-string Flamenco guitar to honor the pioneering women of guitar history, including Memphis Minnie, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, and Maybelle Carter. The album has been hailed as “fabulous” (Guitar Player Magazine) and “the kind of album that will live forever” (Americana Highways).
With a career spanning decades, Foley has earned multiple accolades, including four consecutive Blues Music Awards for Traditional Blues Female Artist (2020–2024), a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2024 Maple Blues Awards, and recognition as Guitarist of the Year at the Austin Music Awards.
From her early days with the legendary Antone’s label in Austin, Texas, to her GRAMMY-nominated achievements, Sue Foley has remained an enduring force in the blues world. Her 2024 release One Guitar Woman showcases not just her virtuosity but her passion for storytelling, and her live performances—whether solo or with her band—continue to captivate audiences worldwide.
